|
|
| Does anyone know of a machine that can apply a regular postage stamp? We do a lot of very small mailings that don't qualify for bulk rates, we also have a couple customers who's pieces get a stamp applied, they don't like the look of the printed postage from meters. I'm looking for something i can load a roll of stamps into. No luck on google, so i thought i'd ask here.

Google this "tabbers stamps". We bought one for the same exact reason. For one customer we would get a job of 50-150 post cards per order. We would get about 1-2 orders per day so we just hand applied stamps. Then we were getting 5-15 per day and you can't believe how long it takes to apply 1000 stamps per day!
What we did was a 3 step process. First step was to hand apply. Second step when we outgrew that was to send them to a mailing house. Any decent mail shop has one and they can apply stamps for you. When that gets too expensive you buy your own machine.
Basically they are semi-special tabbers or wafer sealers. Not all can apply stamps but the nicer or newer ones can. They range in price from $2000 to $50,000. Price depends on speed, how many tabs per item, size of rolls it can handle and if it comes with a feeder or delivery.
Stamps come in a roll or "coils" of 3000 or 10,000 stamps per coil. You can only buy these on the USPS website. They only charge $1 per order for shipping and handling. Talk about a deal and you get them in about 3 days. The biggest problem is the $1320 or $4400 price tag to buy at 44 cents each. Another thing to worry about at your shop is theft of the coils. Not sure why but these coils seam to grow legs and walk run away often.
